This is preparation for Andy Granatelli's record breaking test drives of the Avanti at the Bonneville Speedway on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The car would break 29 records to become the World's fastest production car. The Studebaker Avanti set several kind land speed records for factory stock vehicles. These records remained on the books for many years.
