Beijing-based artists Sun Yuan Peng Yu reflect on their childhood explorations of art, recalling how they initially turned to painting as a form of discipline or an outlet for anger. Guggenheim curator Xiaoyu Weng accompanies them to their studio, where they examine studies for Can’t Help Myself (2016), a large-scale installation featuring a robotic arm. • Can’t Help Myself was commissioned for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s permanent collection as part of The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative.
