Shimano 11 Speed Cassette Problems

I ran into this Shimano problem twice and that's one too many times. Should we be worried about buying knock-off 11-speed components? I don't know. This Shimano Dynasys 11 speed cassette had difficulty installing right out of the box. The last gear or cog which is an 11 tooth gear had trouble settling in and engaging correctly to its neighbor the 10 gear. One taking the time to finesse it, it dropped into place and the lock ring was able to thread on with no problems. The other problem I ran into twice as well the initial fit onto the freehub body. The 11-speed cassette did not want to fit at all. The notching's in the cassette were too narrow and had to be filed to widen the spline spacing. This may be too much trouble for most and quite frankly, why should you. Just return it!! • See other videos- • • How to service, replace seals on fork... • • Bicycle School Repair Classes • About- • Bike Teacher provides a complete hands-on bicycle mechanics repair and maintenance training for beginners, enthusiast, bike shops, race teams, bicycle clubs, businesses, and recreational.
