Vivosun TDS amp EC Meter Calibration Part 2

Here is the Vivosun TDS EC meter being used alongside a HM Digital meter in a 1000 ppm NaCl solution, immediately after being re-calibrated as shown in my previous video. • Prior to my re-calibration, and as supplied pre-calibrated from the factory, it was reading the same solution at around 670 to 680 ppm. This is over 30% inaccuracy when it was received new from the factory. Do not trust your Vivosun TDS EC meter out of the factory. • Vivosun did not know how to fix it and initially refused support as I couldn't provide a mainland North American invoice number. They changed their product information claiming it had built-in automatic self calibration function. It does not. Like any meter it requires regular manual re-calibration. • After I informed them I knew how to calibrate their instrument they asked me to provide them with the instructions. The instructions are now public domain here in my previous video. • • How to Calibrate the Vivosun TDS EC... • You will see that right at the very end of this video both meters have stabilized at a reading of 1030 ppm. I made my 1000 ppm NaCl solution using home distilled water (single distillation) so there may be a small background TDS. It was also before I received my scale accurate to 3 decimals in grams so I could only measure to 1 decimal place using a kitchen spoon scale. Even so, 3% error is a lot better than 30% as it was when supplied. • At some point soon I will record an attempt to calibrate this meter using a known TDS (ppm) solution instead of a known EC solution (ie; KCl 1413 uS/cm). I will make a NaCl solution of around 342 ppm and calibrate the Vivosun to EC 684 uS/cm and then compare it to the known good HM Digital. If it works this should make it very simple for anybody with table salt, clean water and a reasonably accurate scale to calibrate their Vivosun TDS EC meters at home. • Note: I've made a video calibrating with a crude Salt water solution. It works when compared to a known good meter.
