SCARBOROUGH | Full tour of Scarborough Harbour, North Yorkshire, England • SCARBOROUGH HARBOUR in North Yorkshire from Luna Park to Lighthouse • A gentle walk along the harbourside in Scarborough 2021 to see what's open, what's changed and to have a look one of the most popular Scarborough Tourist Attractions • Scarborough Harbour is located on the north east coast of England, south of the Tees and north of the Humber. It is situated under the Castle Headland in the sheltered South Bay. • You may not know but Scarborough Harbour consists of two distinct areas. The larger inner harbour has more water.. far more water than charted in places, while in other places it still dries. The outer or East Harbour has its own separate entrance • The Lighthouse: • The first reference to a lighthouse at the end of Vincent's Pier occurs in 1804. A signal flag was displayed by day and a light by night when depth of water was not less than 12 feet. Storry's Guide 1844 records that a cupola and additional storey were recently added. • In 1914, Scarborough Lighthouse was seriously damaged during the bombardment of Scarborough by German cruisers and the tower had to be dismantled. It was rebuilt in 1931. • The beach and promenade area to the south of the harbour have a reputation for twackiness, kiss me quick hats, burgers and hot dogs... chips with everything. The Northern area on the other side of the promontory apparently has a more refined atmosphere. • Scarborough Sea Fishing includes angling from the piers, Marine Drive and beaches, (commonly called rock angling, in the area) and boat fishing. • Scarborough Harbour • Type:Harbour/Port • Sandside, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, YO11 1PD • On approach to Scarborough head for railway station. From station turn left onto Northway. At traffic light turn ight onto Victoria Road. Continue down here through 2 sets of traffic lights and straight across roundabout. After roundabout take the 1st turning right down Queen Street. At bottom of Queen Street turn left. Follow road down hill to traffic lights and turn left. • Harbour is on the right. • Accessible by Public Transport: Scarborough Train Station is 1 mile away. • As Britain's original seaside resort, holidays to Scarborough offer something for everyone with two beaches, exciting attractions and a rich history. • Scarborough is a resort town on England’s North Sea coast. Its 2 bays with sandy beaches are split by a headland bearing the 12th-century Castle.
