Hello folks, we take you today on our journey from Zermatt to Andermatt. This is part of the glacier express route. Our journey starts from Zermatt, the home of the famous Matterhorn mountain. The same mountain that is depicted in the toblerone choclate. • We try to give you as raw an experience as possible. We have kept the editing and background music to a bare minimum. We took on this journey in the winter months and were truely amazed at the beautiful landscape and the snow cover valleys. • Zermatt -- Brig -- Fiech -- Andermatt • Tickets • -------------- • We had the GA passes, so we did not pay anything for the journey. Also with the day pass you will not pay anything extra. Also Interail/EU rail passes are valid for this journey • However, if you decide to take the touristy Glacier Express (World's slowest express train) you will need to reserve your tickets with SBB (sbb.ch). The journey is rather long at 7-8 hours. • Details of the trip • ------------------------------- • The first part of the journey takes us from a higher elevation at Zermatt to the town of Brig which is in the plains of the Canton of Valais. The train follows the Rhone river up hill to its source in Furkapass near Fiech. Fiech is a popular ski resort and a pretty little town. You can also take one of the several cables cars here, most notably Eggishorn to view the magestic aletsch glacier. • Next the journey continues into the regions called Goms. Here we see deep snow covered pine tree forests and the popular Goms bridge which is a suspension bridge. The train continues towards the Oberwald pass. This is one of the high altitude mountain passes in Switzerland. The train cuts through it with a long tunnel. The other end of the tunnels lands us in the Canton of Uri. After passing through a few alpine villages, the train reaches the famous ski town of Andermatt. • The entire journey took us a little over 4 hrs. We ended our journey in Andermatt and explored the surrounding areas (Goshchenen, Wassen). We returned to Lucerne from here. • In the future, we do hope to continue our journey: • Andermatt -- Oberalp Pass -- Disentis -- Chur -- St Moritz • Our Instagram account (IG) : @_wandererduo • we post regularly on our insta page regarding our travel come join us to our instagram family.. • Love you all stay safe and take care • • #Glacierexpress #switzerland #switzerlandtrains #Wanderer Duo
