About eight million tonnes of plastic goes into our oceans each year, on top of the 150 million tonnes already circulating in marine environments. Scientists have known for decades about the consequences of the accumulating debris. A Singapore-UK study is trying to find out more about the amount of plastic in remote regions of the Southern Hemisphere. Lead researcher, Associate Professor Federico Lauro from Nanyang Technological University, shared more about plastics in the oceans and what has been done by governments and conservation groups. • Subscribe to our channel here: https://cna.asia/youtubesub • • Subscribe to our news service on Telegram: https://cna.asia/telegram • • Follow us: • CNA: https://cna.asia • CNA Lifestyle: http://www.cnalifestyle.com • Facebook:   / channelnewsasia   • Instagram:   / channelnewsasia   • Twitter:   / channelnewsasia
