This level crossing is located on the busy A1075 which connects Thetford with Dereham, and the Breckland Line running between Ely and Norwich crosses this road at quite an angle at this level crossing. Numerous incidents in the past have meant this level crossing has no crossing plant since crossing plant installed here in the past posed a danger to both road and rail traffic at this location, and there is also a speed restriction around this level crossing for trains meaning that they have to slow down as they approach and cross it. Level crossing equipment here consists of two fairly long Mk1 twin-arm half barriers, two fairly loud alarms (one of which has a newer sounder than the other), as well as four dirty LED wigwags. There is also what appears to be an abandoned bunker next to this level crossing, giving a unique charm and feel to it and its surroundings. The footways across the level crossing are incredibly narrow since it would barely ever be used by pedestrians given its very remote location on a fairly main road, only a mile or so off of the A11 - the major route connecting London and Cambridge with Norwich. As part of the upcoming Cambridge re-signalling project, a full renewal is expected to take place here in the next few years. • Thanks for watching!
