If you don't like Red Sumac as a tea ( Too strong a flavor for some possibly) it does have an excellent potpourri type fragrance. I left some Sumac berries in my coat pocket over night and the inner-liner of the coat pocket had a fragrant, but very pleasant smell. The taste of the Red Sumac tea , the best I can compare the taste to, is something similar to Cranberry juice with touch of Lime juice. I made my Sumac tea a little too strong. I let one cluster of berries steep in about a cup and a half of very hot water for about 10 minutes. I used a coffee filter to make the water crystal clear but pink in color. Straining the tea wasn't a high priority. The water was a clear pink color with just a few berries floating at the top of the cup and a spoon to skim the surface may have worked as well. As a cautionary note, White Sumac is poisonous and Red Sumac isn't. • • http://flowerinfo.org/poison-sumac-pl...
