My Insulliving project First in NZ Sweet Home 3D

Ok, started to get the hang of the Sweet Home 3D app... slowly! Still, this gives you a good idea of the basic dimensions and layout of my latest home design. • I've moved the kitchen inwards from the back wall (compared with V1 of the design), placing it behind what will be an L shaped Schist wall that doesn't quite reach to the ceiling. This leaves a corridor just inside the front door that runs through to the dining area, a nice place to hang all our art! You'll just have to imagine the schist, at this stage, all I could find was a brick texture in the app and for some reason it hasn't rendered half of it. • The master bedroom is a whopping 6m x 5m and has a 2x2m walk in wardrobe as well as an ensuite, the bath will look out onto a private garden not accessible from the main garden, to ensure privacy. • The kids bedrooms are both identical in size (to ensure no argument over who has which!) and there is a further large guest suite with it's own shower and toilet. • The living room area is 6x7m which should be ample and together with a 6x4m dining area. It should feel very spacious. In total the floor area is 220 square meters, however, we're looking to add an outdoor fireplace and second outdoor living room which will be usable all year round thanks to adjustable sail cloths that can drop down to semi enclose the space. • Because I love to cook, I've put the oven, hob and range hood in the island, that way I won't have my back to my guests as I make dinner. The island will also feature some cool L.E.D. lighting around the foot recess in front of the bar stools, subtle but cool. • All we ned to do now is find a suitable piece of land, 1600m/2 or more, relatively flat and somewhere within 40 minutes drive of Auckland. Easy! • We've also settled on an innovative construction method for the house. It's called SIPs, or Structural Insulated Panel. This uses pre-made panels comprising a high density polystyrene core with steel interior and exterior sheets. Once assembled, the interior is ready to skim and paint and the exterior is ready to render. • It's 4 times as strong as regular wooden framing/cladding and also costs less, both to purchase the raw materials and to construct the building envelope. It's super fast to put together, able to progress from bare concrete pad to lock up shell within a matter of days. Not only that but it also has an incredible energy rating of R5.9 or above, twice that of most NZ houses, meaning lower heating bills and a lower carbon footprint (groovy, man!). • Check out the Insulliving site here: • http://insulliving.com.au • for further info on this incredible building system.
