Seventy five years ago tonight, the bombing of the German city of Dresden was just beginning, in the final year of the second world war. • Three days later, tens of thousands of Germans were dead, their city in flames and in ruins. • To some historians it was a controversial chapter in the history of the war. • Few eye witnesses, or survivors, are still alive. • One is British.
