You negotiate a Combine checkpoint and a small encampment overrun by enemy troops, and you meet up with a human resistance at Lighthouse Point. The citizens' joy is short-lived as you buckle down for a Combine onslaught; four Dropships deposit Soldiers for you to defeat, after which a Gunship needs its wings clipped. With the car no longer available, alternate means to Nova Prospekt are needed. You'll have to cross an Antlion beach using nimble feet. This foray ends in combat with a new and horrific foe - the powerful fiend known as the Antlion Guard. Out of his defeat comes a lucky break as a Vortigaunt creates a powerful Pheropod that drives Antlions wild, effectively making them obey your commands (as long as those commands are kill or regroup ). With your new Antlion pride, it's time for a final beach assault against Combine sentry gun emplacements and an ascent of the cliff wall. Then, in the prison yard, you'll wage a final and terrifying battle against Soldiers and two Gunships before infiltrating the prison. • Sandtraps is the eighth chapter in Half-Life 2. • This chapter details the second half of Gordon's journey to Nova Prospekt. The name of the chapter is a reference to the golf term sand trap, also known as bunkers. • ★★ Achievement Progress ★★ • 1) Keep Off The Sand!: Cross the Antlion beach without touching the sand. Even if no Antlions are summoned, you can still fail this Achievement; do not touch the sand at all! • 2) One Man Army: Destroy six Gunships in Half-Life 2. • 3) Lambda Locator (In Progress): Find all lambda locations in Half-Life 2. • 4) Bug Hunt (In Progress): Use the Antlions to kill 50 enemies.
