The Flea Market of the Beguinages in Mechelen is one of the largest and most pleasant in Flanders, with the Large Beguinage and the Small Beguinage. Thanks to the historic setting of the beguinage with the unique houses of the former beguines, this flea market is a real crowd puller. A range of curiosities, art, old things and fringe entertainment means that the Flea Market of the Beguinages, every year on the second Saturday of September, welcomes thousands of visitors from Flanders and far beyond. Add to that live music from cover bands Pretzel The Cookies in the Moreelshuis (Groot Begijnhof) and Frituur Paula (Klein Begijnhof), then a neighborhood party and flea market is certainly a success.
