I got caught and taken away by the Indian Police for flying my drone in a restricted area in India - The Andaman Nicobar Islands. Find out what happened at the Police station and the drone laws for foreigners who want to fly a drone in India. • The rules for flying a drone in India are straightforward. If you're an Indian, you need to download the Government's Digital Sky Platform and apply for permission each time through the app if your drone is over 250 grams in weight (a DJI Spark is 305 grams). Visit the Digital Sky Portal at https://digitalsky.dgca.gov.in/. • If you're a foreigner the drone laws are simple too, you can't fly your drone in India! There's no easy way for foreigners to fly here yet. So you need to get an Indian person to get the permissions for you and operate the drone. Or risk being caught by the Indian Police.
