-Personal Experience • -I am building muscle easier and recovering faster • -I can lift heavier weights for reps and sets • -I feel I have more endurance and energy • -Science behind carnivore lifestyle and athletic performance • -Protein is essential for muscle growth and repair • -Animal based proteins are considered complete proteins. This means they contain all essential amino acids the body cannot produce on their own. • -High protein/low carb way of eating can help one feel satiated longer, helping regulate appetite and body weight • -Low carb/no carb does not lead to spikes or crashed in blood sugar levels. This leads to more stable energy levels during physical activity, leading to enhanced endurance and performance. • -With the absence of carbs, the body becomes more efficient at using fats as fuel. This can allow athletes to tap into stored body fat and use it for energy. • -Carbs cause water weight. This is because carbs are stored in the body as glycogen, which bond to water. Low carb leads to a reduction in water retention. This can lead to a perceived increase in muscle definition and leanness. • -Carnivore lifestyle eliminates anti-nutrients like lectins, oxalates, and phytates. These compounds can hinder nutrient absorption and cause digestive discomfort. • -Experience reduced digestive stress, leading to increased comfort and energy for physical activity. • -Nutrient Density • -High quality protein helps muscles with building and repair • -Animal based foods are packed with essential vitamins and minerals such as iron, zinc, B vit, and calcium. These essential vitamins and minerals play a crucial role in various physiological functions such as energy metabolism, oxygen transport, and bone health. • -Creatine helps provide energy for high-intensity, short-duration activities. It is the most effective compound for improving strength and performance. • -Omega-3 Fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties. They can help reduce muscle soreness. • -B vitamins are vital for energy production, nerve function, and red blood cell formation. • -Heme iron is more easily absorbed by the body compared to non-heme iron found in plants. Iron is critical for oxygen transport and energy metabolism, both crucial for athletic performance. • -animal based foods are more bioavailable. This means the body can absorb and utilize a higher percentage of the nutrients, ensuring athletes receive the maximum benefits from their food. • -Animal based foods do not contain anti-nutrients. • -Potential considerations and challenges • -Make sure you are consuming enough electrolytes • -Meat does contain water. But it’s also important to stay hydrated. This means, drink when you are thirsty. Do not worry about trying to track your water intake. • -Plan ahead if you are not going to be able to prepare your own meals • -May be hard to stick to. • -Meal planning • -Eat a variety of animal proteins. • -Make sure you are opting for the fattier cuts of meat, if not, add animal fats to them. • -You can incorporate organ meat if you want • -Try dairy if you can tolerate it. • -Eat sea food • -Meal examples • -Breakfast: scrambled eggs cooked in butter with cheese • -Lunch: grilled steak topped with butter with shrimp • -Dinner: Baked salmon with bone marrow. • -Snack: Beef jerky • -Workout routine • -Prioritize protein after your workout • -Add fats for sustained energy • -Bone broth is rich in collagen, electrolytes, and minerals • -Prioritize sleep and rest • -Monitor your progress • Make sure you start slow, especially if you have health issues.
