Does this river hold the key to life on Mars? • It's impossible not to be captivated by the Río Tinto. One of the longest rivers in Spain, and distinctive for its blood-red color. • The Spanish river looks like liquid rust, and it has a color that matches its name. The 3-million-year old waterway runs through the heart of southwestern Spain's Andalusia region, threading through Salar de Uyuni-like salt flats and ancient terraced mine canyons. • The red-hued, acidic water is produced by the chemical breakdown of iron and other minerals deep underground. It first flowed from the rocks about four million years ago, and continues to cut a channel through terrace formations as it meanders its way to the Atlantic Ocean. • Now scientists think canyons like this one could also provide clues about how life might exist below the surface on Mars. • #riotinto #oneminutexplore • ================================================= • ► Discover More on: https://www.oneminutexplore.com • ► Subscribe to OneMinuteExplore on: https://bit.ly/3bFolpv • 👉 Become our Patreon on https://bit.ly/patreon1minute • ----------- • Thanks for watching • ► To support the team for making new videos • ** SHARE THE VIDEO! ** • *** Join the family SUBSCRIBE • *** Offer us a coffee on https://bit.ly/3sWXbS8 • ----------- • Our Social Media: • ► Facebook:   / oneminutexplore   • ► Instagram:   / oneminutexplore   • ► Twitter:   / oneminutexplore   • ► Pinterest: https://pin.it/5jGBThB • ----------- • You may also like : • ► Aral sea | The difficult return of water:    • Aral sea | The difficult return of water   • ► The salmon cannon:    • The 'salmon cannon' that shoots fish ...   • ================================================= • Special thanks credit to : • OneMinuteExplore • Image: David Santiago Garcia • This post may contains affiliate links.
