Halocaridina rubra are called Opae Ula Shrimp or Hawaiian Red Shrimp. They are the easiest pet arthropods I've ever cared for. Though not as prolific as springtails or fruit flies, their care routine is very minimal compared with other pet bugs that I've kept. I acquired my colony of them from YouTuber Rus from ‪@Aquarimax‬ many years ago and they've just pretty much been on their own besides my once per month feedings, all this time. Rus sent me everything I'd need to care for them and their ability to adapt to varying salinity conditions in nature is remarkable. I used to have some snails in with them that provided some cleaning functions on the sidewalls of the container but it's been a few years since they disappeared. The algae in the tank was also acquired from Rus and has managed to thrive all these years too. • I don't typically keep aquatics of any kind but these are just such a pleasure to observe. They swim constantly and busy themselves exploring their environment with what looks like four little hands. They remind me of General Grievous from the Star Wars movies, almost machine-like, when I see them feeding close up. Various life stages are always present, including berried females. They have red eggs as you can see in some specimens in the video. • Please hit the Like button Subscribe! • Online Store: https://bugsincyberspace.com • Care Books: https://bugsincyberspace.com/product-... • Follow us on these other social media platforms: • Instagram:   / bugsincyberspace   • TikTok: @bugsincyberspace
