The serrations on the beak allow it to chew through almost any fruit or nut. They also eat insects and lizards. They play an important role in dispersing seeds in the jungle. • Unique to the toucan is their ability to snap their tail forward covering their head to sleep. • Toucans usually do not show sexually dimorphism, or difference in the colorations between male and female. This usually means that their colors are not used to attract the opposite sex. • They live in hollowed out trees, usually created by woodpeckers, which are their distant cousins.
