(25 Mar 2015) Several students, parents and residents of a small Spanish town of Llinars del Valles observed a minute of silence on Wednesday to mourn a group of German students who died in the plane crash over the French Alps on their way back from an exchange programme. • Braving the rain the mourners gathered outside the mayor's office to pay their respects to the 16 students and their two teachers who were among the 150 people who died in the Germanwings plane crash on Tuesday. • The mayor of the small northeastern Spanish town said there was a second group of about 30 German exchange students from Hamburg, who were due to return to Germany but opted to take a train rather than fly back home, following the tragedy. • Manuel Fernandez Rico, who owns a pizza shop, where many of the perished German students dined during their stay in the town, said he was saddened to learn the news about the accident. • Earlier in the day, parents and children attended a memorial service at the Giola Institute that hosted the German students during their exchange programme. • • Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork • Twitter: / ap_archive • Facebook: / aparchives • Instagram: / apnews • • • You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
