Half-wave dipole antennas are among the most common antenna topologies. They are simple to design and fabricate and offer a rotationally symmetric radiation pattern with very clean linear polarization. In this lesson, we will discuss the general design of a half-wave dipole and introduce two attributes of the half-wave dipole at resonance: the current structure that forms on the antenna, and the theoretical far-field radiation pattern of the half-wave dipole.
