The architect designed this house keeping in mind the value system of an Indian family, where members across ages and generations could spend time together. Common spaces like a central courtyard along with an open floor planning facilitated this. • • A striking feature of the house is the dramatic facade which is a series of wooden operable shutters covering the entirety of the front elevation. It also answers security concerns other than lifting the design aesthetically. The house is a culmination of Punjabi and South Indian culture and an homage to both is paid using design features like Phulkari emulated flooring patterns and use of elements typical to Hoysala architecture. • The house is a fine balance of built spaces and green areas with a garden in the front and two courtyards inside the house. These spaces ensure that the house is well ventilated, and that adequate natural light is let inside.
