These are audio excerpts from a July 19, 1981, interview that Henry T. King, Jr., a former U.S. prosecutor at Nuremberg, conducted in English with Nazi war criminal Albert Speer. In 1946, the International Military Tribunal convicted Speer, Hitler's Armaments Minister, of international crimes and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment, which served (1946-66) in Spandau prison. In these excerpts, Speer speaks of: (1) his assistant and Nazi underling Fritz Sauckel, who at Nuremberg was convicted, sentenced to death and executed; (2) his (Speer's) impressions of his treatment in the dock; and (3) the overture letter that he sent at Nurember to the U.S. chief prosecutor, Justice Robert H. Jackson. Copyright 2012, Robert H. Jackson Center. For more information, see http://www.roberthjackson.org
