IOBit scam

This video is long and completely unedited (except for trimming off the end), and the ticking of my clock in the background may drive you insane, so if you don't want to listen to the whole thing, here are some interesting milestones: • 0:36 - I get connected on the phone with a real person • 1:15 - ...it's an advanced diagnostic tool we use here at IOBit... (referring to LogMeInRescue) • 3:00-4:00 - Ricky and I try to figure out why LogMeInRescue isn't working; finally it magically started working. I'm not sure what happened there, but as you'll learn if you listen further, it had happened to me on a previous call as well. • 5:05-12:42 - I get put on hold, then get to enjoy hold music while watching Ricky poke around in my system. • 12:43 - Ricky begins to tell me all about the bad things on my system, while scrolling through perfectly normal log entries in the Console. He tells me this is due to malware, and that this malware had also corrupted MacBooster, presumably to explain why it hadn't solved these problems for me. • 13:30 - Ricky ups the ante by trying to get me scared about financial transactions I've done on the infected Mac. • 14:50 - Ricky starts to sell me on a maintenance campaign called Eureka24. • 16:28 - ...the price of Eureka24 that is cited is $189. • 16:58 - ...we just ask that you leave your computer plugged in and unattended... • 18:02-18:51 - on hold • 19:21 - End of video. The part where Ricky collected my (fake) information was uninteresting, and the fake information would probably reveal more about me than about Ricky and IOBit. I ended the call shortly after, when he got to the part about wanting payment.
