The Turin Horse (A torinói ló, 2011) opens with a narrator speaking of Nietzsche's mental collapse on the streets of Turin after witnessing a cabman brutalize a horse. The resulting film tells the story of this cabman, his daughter, and their horse, but the philosopher is never mentioned again. Instead, the film oozes details of Nietzsche's philosophy, especially his concept of eternal return. This video explores that connection by explaining eternal return and how it relates to The Turin Horse. • This video is based on an essay I wrote for The Movement Image film journal.
