#griekwastad #steenkampfamily #truecrimestories • The Griekwastad Murders - Steenkamp Family • Griekwastad is a hamlet in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa, a very rural, arid land home to many family ran farms with their ancestry going back generations. • Only a few thousand people live in this town, which meant it was close-knit, most people knows everyone, a huge sense of community was prominent and important. • One well-known and respected family of Griekwastad was the Steenkamp family. This consisted of Deon Steenkamp, the only son of Don Sr and Bettie Steenkamp who previously owned and ran the family farm, his wife Christelle and their children, fifteen year old Don Jr and fourteen year old Marthella. • On Good Friday, 6th April 2012, a blood-drenched Don Steenkamp Jr arrived at the Griekwastad Police Station between 18:50 and 18:57, stating “they’re all dead.” • His family had been murdered by unknown assailants and Don was the only survivor.
