Betty demonstrates how to make Baked Country Ham. This is a delicious entrée that is very popular in Central Kentucky. • Baked Sliced Country Ham • 5 pounds sliced, uncooked country ham (I used Clifty Farm sliced country ham.) • Remove sliced, uncooked country ham from package and place in a large roasting pan. Cover ham with water, and then cover the top of the roasting pan with aluminum foil. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight, if possible. Pour the water off and dispose of it. Temporarily remove ham from roasting pan. Place a large piece of heavy duty aluminum foil inside the roasting pan, and return the sliced ham to the pan on top of the aluminum foil. Turn up sides and ends of aluminum foil to enclose ham. Place the lid on the roasting pan and put the roasting pan on the center rack of a 300 degree (F) oven. (You may need to remove the upper rack.) Bake for approximately 2.5 hours, or until the internal temperature of the ham is 160 degrees (F) on a meat thermometer. Peel back the aluminum foil and turn the oven to broil for about 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Immediately remove ham from roasting pan and place on a nice serving platter. (The ham drippings are not used in this recipe.) Let ham rest about 10 minutes before serving. Serve as desired--in full slices or cut into circles for ham biscuits. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
