How to convert videos with VLC

This is a quick guide on how to convert videos with VLC. Please watch in 480p! • Download VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ • Download portabl VLC: http://portableapps.com/apps/music_vi... • • Steps: • 1. Open VLC, then go to: Media --- Convert / Save • 2. In the file tab 'Add' the video you want to convert. If it is a DVD then go to the 'Disc' tab and select. (Sometimes DVDs with copy-protection won't work.) • 3. Click 'Convert / Save' • 4. Set destination folder. Make sure you include the video, so if you were converting an AVI file to a MKV file, save it as: ......Desktop\\video.mkv • 5. Under 'Settings' go to the crossed tools icon which will open up settings. • 6. For encapsulation, choose one. This is your format or container. • 7. Under video codec you can choose bitrate, codec, etc. for the video stream • 8. Under audio codec you can choose bitrate, codec, etc. for the audio stream • 9. The click 'Save'. • 10. Click 'start'. VLC will start converting this video now. Wait until the slider moves to the other side, or in the bottom right hand corner it should say '2: 00/4: 55 which means it has done 2 minutes out of 4 minutes 55 seconds.
