Repotting A Large Jade Plant 20 Years Old

My young jade plant (Crassula ovata) has outgrown it's little home. Time to repot! Follow along to see this simple upgrade to a new home for my jade plant that is not so tiny any more! • How often should you repot? • Potted Jade plants can become root-bound, which can stunt growth of the plant. Repot in fresh soil every so often to let the plant stretch out, refresh, and grow even bigger and healthier. Small jade plants like the plant featured in the video should be repotted every two or three years, increasing pot size each time. Larger plants can wait four or five years, depending on the pot size and root system. • What soil to use? • Select a well draining soil like a succulent or cactus mix. Jade plants do not like to have wet feet. General potting soil can become too wet for Jade plants, which can lead to root rot. • When to water? • If your jade plant is coming from drier soil, like the one featured in the video, give it a good watering right away. If your current jade plant has been wet for a while, you could simply repot and jump right into your regular watering schedule. If your current jade plant has been damaged in the transplant process or you remove large parts of the roots/plant, you could wait a few days before watering to let the plant heal and calous over.
