Here we are again at the end of another year. And with it our quest of a new Christmas market to explore. This year we chose to cross the Dutch border and check the one at Antwerp. And we have only one word: WOW! Though the Germans master the art of Christmas markets, the Belgians are not that far behind. Known as Winter in Antwerp , it goes on from 9 December until 8 January and is spread over different parts of the historic city center: the Grote Markt, Suikerrui, Handschoenmarkt, the Groenplaats, and Steenplein at the foot of Antwerp Steen castle. Every square is perfectly planned and the historical buildings are richly decorated with lights and ornaments. The many stalls offer a myriad of gift options, Christmas decoration and traditional Holidays food and beverages. Artists and singer offer many performances throughout the market to put everyone into their best Christmas spirt. They even have artificial snow for the white powder lovers!
