Peal and chop your apples into squares. Pour into a saucepan and add in your sugar, spices, and butter. Cook until tender, about 10 minutes, and allow to cool. • 2.) Using a straight edge or a tape measure, cut pie dough or puff pastry using a pizza pie cutter into 4.75 x 4.75 squares for the exact measurements of a McDonalds Apple Pie. Fill with 2-3 tablespoons of apple filling. Brush the edges with water before folding to bind better and crimp the edges with a fork to firmly close. • Option A: Fry Puff Pastry or Pie Crust @ 350°F for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway in between, and then enjoy. • Option B: Bake Puff Pastry or Pie Crust @ 450°F for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. • Verdict: Baked or Fried? • The Puff Pastry The Pie Crust both had better results deep frying. But is that really a surprise? • The deep fryer oil gives them a more solid, but flaky crust perfect for holding in your hand and taking a bite out of. • For a healthier, less desirable method, baking will work.
