This is a two step video where we addressed a problem with parking brake shoes that were binding inside the high hat area of the brake rotor; the other being worn brake pads showing cracks in the pad material. The repair was performed on a 2000 Lexus RX300. The rear parking brake design is commonly used on Toyota vehicles with a V6 engine. The binding shoes resulted in friction heat buildup inside the rear brake rotor accompanied with a noticeable burning smell.
