You've just found a buyer in a foreign country and you're preparing to close the sale. Exciting, right? Shipping goods to a prohibited end-user or for a prohibited end-use can lead to severe penalties. • Prohibited End-Uses • Examples of prohibited end-uses include: • —Certain nuclear applications • —Use in weapons of mass destruction • —Military end-use of microprocessors • For a complete list of restrictions under the EAR, refer to 15 Code of Federal Regulations Part 744. • As an exporter, it’s also your responsibility to be aware of red flags that might indicate that you’re shipping to a prohibited end-user or for a prohibited end-use. If you don’t know what to look for, I’ll link below to an article that explains red flags. • Restricted Party Lists • To keep track of restricted end-users, U.S. government agencies produce restricted or denied party lists that include individuals or organizations identified as potential threats to national security. You’ll need a license to ship to anyone on these lists. • Manually searching these lists can be time-consuming—there are hundreds of them—but there's a solution: Shipping Solutions Restricted Party Screening Software. It checks all of the required lists, saving you valuable time. There’s a link above to try it for free. • Restricted Party Screening Software is also part of our export documentation software, along with Export License Determination and a Document Determination. We’d love to show you how it works.
