Here's a tour of my boat with a vintage 1956 30HP Johnson Javelin RJE-18 Electric Start outboard. Also be sure to check out my other videos for more outboard fun, a 1961 40HP and 1957 18HP, OEM OMC Brochure PDFs (just ask), and also my NEW Chevy Farm Truck I just got running for the Winter season. Click Show More for LOTS MORE info!....... • The RJE-18 Javelin is the same as the standard RDE-18 30HP, but with deluxe Javelin features - chrome door and electric start standard. Found a brochure on the internet that lists it at $582.00 new back in '56 - lot of money! Couldn't get any better. I don't think this motor has run since the late 70s at least, or even earlier - before my time.......:^). Refurbished the whole ignition, cleaned out the carb, and away we went - great fun! • Put a vintage Airguide speedometer in, and I get up to 28mph, pretty fast, especially for me. With two other light passengers, it only drops a couple MPH. And I can water-ski behind with two light riders in the boat, maybe not quite as fast as my friend's 60hp, but great fun for a '56 motor.........:^) • • The boat is a 1965 Viking 14-foot fiberglass runabout. Even have the ownership papers too. • • Check out this site for some info and pictures (click on 'Old Ads'): • http://www.javelin1957.com/ • Nice Restored Javelin 30 for sale: • http://forum729.activeboard.com/t4345... • A blog on a another restored Javelin 30 (near bottom): • http://conductorjonz.wordpress.com/ca... • And these ads shows the price back in 1956! : • http://www.javelin1957.com/old_ads/19... • http://www.datazap.net/sites/3for3get... • Also, here's a great site selling duplicate decals, any and all years listed, plus tons of other parts! Can now spray-paint the whole motor, without having to mask the old decals. Can even find out the specs of a motor if the old label's become unreadable....:^) • http://nymarine.ca • In the latter half the the tour, I stop the motor for a bit and explain some interesting details about getting it running again. You might hear some low 'humming' in the background. I think I may have stopped my boat under some power lines crossing the lake, and they must have interfered with my camera! Didn't discover it until I got back home. Most of the time you can't hear it though, so it's not too bad. • • Thanks for watching! • bellarmine33
