This one hour video records the entire baptism service in Woodstock, GA at Saint Elizabeth Orthodox Church. Three Orthodox Priests participated in this baptism service. The priest who actually baptizes the baby is the priest's newborn son (yes Orthodox Priests are married). • The Sacrament of Baptism in the Orthodox Church consists of ancient Christian practices, prayers, and hymns. • Bible passages are also chanted reverently in the style of the Ancient Orthodox Church. • These scripture readings are from the Epistle of Saint Paul to the Romans (Rom. 6:3-11) and the Gospel according to Saint Matthew (Matt. 28:16-20). • The service depicted in this video takes place mostly in the center of the church toward the front near the front. The service begins in the back of the church which is not shown in this video but the sound is recorded. Watch the entire video to see and hear the following parts of the service: • The Three Exorcisms • Recitation of the Nicene Creed • The Blessing of the Baptismal Water • The Blessing of the Oil of the Catechumens • The Anointing • The Baptism (triple immersion) • The Chrismation • The Rite of Ablution and Tonsure • The Epistle Reading • The Gospel Reading • The Churching • The Canticle of St. Simeon • The Dismissal • St. Elizabeth Orthodox Church is a local parish of the American Carpatho Russian Orthodox Diocese located at 2265 East Cherokee Drive, Woodstock, GA 30188.
