Give Yourself NIGHT VISION Superpowers

I recently got my very own pet hamsters. I love to watch them play and eat and even sleep. I can't get enough of them. • So I decided to make a streaming camera to keep an eye on them no matter where I am. The only problem is that hamsters are nocturnal and usually are most active at night and in the dark. • Most cameras don't see so well in the dark and I couldn't leave the light on all night. I needed to find a solution to this problem. • IR LEDs to the rescue! By combining an IR sensitive camera with IR LEDs, I would be able to see even in total darkness. • So I set out to build a Night Vision camera with a Pi zero and IR LEDs. For the software, I choose to use MotionEye OS because it had motion detection features. • Once I had everything working I designed a case in Tinkercad to hold all the components. It took a lot of testing trial and error, but eventually, I ended with a design that worked. • I had lots of fun figuring out how everything needed to work even with multiple failures along the way.
