You've probably driven under the old railroad bridge at Whitford (also called a flyover ) that goes over Whitford Road and the Amtrak/SEPTA tracks, but here it is from a train's perspective from a photograph taken in the 40s or 50s. Service ended on this section of railroad (called the Philadelphia and Thorndale Branch) in the 1980s. You can see Whitford Station in the old image, but from the same vantage point today it's totally hidden behind trees and brush. The Chester County Planning Commission recently put out a great video (   • Chester Valley Trail - Extension to D...  ) highlighting the use of the old Philadelphia and Thorndale Branch for the Chester Valley Trail's extension to Downingtown.
