These word signs are a great way to make any room feel home-y! These words are special to me, but you can customize your wood sign to suit your style, this video is here just to guide you through the process. • Click here so you don't miss a video! https://bit.ly/2Xe639L • JOIN ME ONLINE: • Facebook:   / muskokafolks   • Instagram:   / muskoka_folk   • Website: https://www.muskokafolk.com • The first thing we’re going to do is cut the pieces for the frame. • My piece is 19 5/8”x 48 ¾” and is 2” thick. My sides are 19 5/8” (or for a custom size, the total length of the short side) and my top and bottom are 48 ¾” (or the total length of the long side minus 1 ½”) • Then I used a ¼” dato blade to make the slots in the frame that hold the sign. You can also use a ¼” straight router bit for this part. • Give your frame a quick sand and then it’s ready to stain. I’m using early American stain by minwax. • Next I’m going to paint the plywood background for my sign. My piece was 18 5/8”x47 ¾” (or the short side minus 1” + the long side minus 1”) • Now for the fun part! I laid down some painters tape to help guide me and keep my lines straight, but you don’t really need it. • To transfer my letters, I printed them on regular printer paper and then laid down carbon paper and traced it on. You can get carbon paper from staples. • Once I was done tracing my quote, I painted it on. Rather than using a paint brush I used a Paint pen that I bough from Michaels. It is an oil Craft Smart paint pen in black and I find that I have muchhh more control compared to a regular paint brush. • Now slide your frame into place and air nail the corners. If you are making a smaller sign, you don’t need any glue, but if you are making a larger sign, I recommend adding some glue in your frame slots to give it more strength when you hang it. Otherwise you can just air nail it and then Because of the 1″ lip all along the backside, you can just put a nail in the wall and hang it, without needing any picture hanger wires. • You can also add a coat of varathane for a nice finish. • MUSIC: https://www.bensound.com • #woodsign #wordsign #howtomakeawoodwordsign
