In this video, I model the setup for the 5th Grade NGSS Performance Expectation 5-LS1-1: Support an argument that plants get the materials they need for growth chiefly from air and water. • In this experiment, the class will set up an investigation to determine which materials plants need for growth, by taking one material away from each of 4 plants. Students will collect the height and descriptive data about the plants 3 times over 2 weeks, to come to the conclusion that plants must have sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide, and that while soil does help a plant to grow better, a plant can survive without soil. • Worksheets to setup the experiment, collect data, analyze observations, and write an argument can be found at my Teachers Pay Teachers store here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/P... • Please comment with any questions!
