Police in riot gear were called out on Bonfire Night as road closures were imposed to tackle mobs of youths in Edinburgh throwing petrol bombs. • The officers were deployed as part of Operation Moonbeam, which was launched by Police Scotland in a bid to keep communities safe on November 5. • Trouble broke out in the Niddrie area of the city and footage on social media showed bystanders watching as officers are bombarded with explosives and smoke.
