Thanks for watching our video about Inside Basement Waterproofing - Inside Weeping Tile Installation in Oakville • In this video, we'll walk you through the following: • The process of installing weeping tiles inside the basement can be described as follows: • Break up the concrete floor in the basement: This involves using a chipping hammer to create a trench along the inside perimeter of your basement walls. The channel should be about 18 inches from the wall and deep enough to reach below the level of the footings. • Pour gravel into the trench: This involves filling the bottom of the trench with a layer of gravel or crushed stone. The gravel acts as a filter and a base for the weeping tiles. • Lay the weeping tiles on top of the gravel: Place perforated weeping tile pipes along the trench next to the footings. The weeping tiles should have holes or slits facing down to allow water to enter them. The weeping tiles should also slope slightly towards a sump pit or floor drain. We recommend using 4 perforated and corrugated weeping tile; however, consulting professionals is best! • Cover the weeping tiles with additional gravel: This involves adding another layer of gravel or crushed stone over the weeping tiles. The gravel should cover the pipes entirely and reach about 3/4 inches below the concrete floor. • Patch up the concrete floor over the trench: This involves using fresh concrete to fill the gap between the gravel and the floor. The concrete should be smoothed and leveled with a trowel or other tool. • Install a sump pump: This involves connecting the weeping tiles to a sump pit that contains a sump pump. The sump pump is a device that automatically pumps out any water that collects in the pit. The sump pump helps prevent water from overflowing or backing into the basement. • ABOUT OUR CHANNEL • Our channel is about basement foundation repair and waterproofing services serving the Greater Toronto Area.
