Naked wedding cakes are a beautiful centrepiece for spring and summer weddings. Fiona Cairns demonstrates how to decorate your own wedding cake, complete with your favourite flowers. • Tips on using fresh flowers on your cake: • *Select your edible flowers from a reputable supplier. • *Some flowers are poisonous, so always check that they are edible and have not been treated with pesticides. • *To keep flowers fresh place them on moist paper and refrigerate in an airtight container - iced water can revive limp flowers. • *Eat only the petals. • *Although most of the allium family is edible they are related to the onion family so we would not recommend them as they could tarnish the flavour of the cake. • • Suitable flowers: • Violas, pansies, cornflowers (bachelor’s button), honey suckle flowers, jasmine, marigold, roses, chrysanthemum, lilac, fuchsia, and lavender • Suitable herbs: • Thyme, rosemary, basil , borage, mint, Dill, Angelica, lemon verbena and fennel. • • Flowers used in this video: • *Roses • *Peonies • *Borage flower • *Batchelors buttons/ cornflowers • *Lavender • *Violas • *Pansies • *Dianthus • *Hibiscus • *Fuchsia flowers • __ • Follow us: • Twitter | / waitrose • Facebook | / waitrose • Instagram | / waitrose • Pinterest | / waitrose • More great recipes, ideas and groceries | http://www.waitrose.com • Subscribe to our channel for new videos every week
