However, after tracking Sam’s credit card activity, police discovered that a 17-year-old was using it on behalf of Daniel Wozniak, a local actor. Wozniak had lured Sam to a theater attic, where he murdered him, stole his money, and used Sam's phone to lure Julie to Sam's apartment, killing her as well. Wozniak then dismembered Sam’s body to hide the evidence. • The motive behind Wozniak’s actions was financial. He was deeply in debt and needed money for his wedding, learning that Sam had $62,000 in savings. Wozniak was arrested, confessed to the murders, and was sentenced to death in 2016.
