In this video I show the process of making a set of LED walls for my band Beta State ‪@betastateofficial‬. I got the idea from watching Circa Survive ‪@circasurvive‬ live at the Regency Ballroom in 2012. Looking deeper into it, I saw that ‪@iggylights‬ was the manufacturer of these lights. I dug into the BTS of making them and thought to myself Hey, I think I can build these myself . With the help of Todd Plumber of Todd Created Wood (‪@h2otoad‬), hundreds of hours soldering and assembling, and $3000 in parts and labor I finally had them built and my band used these for many shows. I am now at a point where I no longer want them and I am hoping that another touring band will take them off my hands. • I made this video to show that you can know nothing about a subject (in my case DMX lighting) and teach yourself the path forward to building your dreams into reality. Much thanks to Circa Survive for the inspiration and a special thank you to Iggy Lights for posting a short video on YouTube that set me on this path. I'm hoping that someone out there in a band with the same curiosity I had can get the inspiration to dig into DMX protocol, custom builds, and making their stage production better... at any budget. We were not signed, we had no real budget.... What we had was the want to put on a great show for the budget we had and I think for the price we paid it was mission accomplished. • Cheers everyone and happy building! • PS: If you are interested in these lights they are located in Los Angeles, CA in the heart of Hollywood.
