Revising requires you to take another look at your work and to re imagine what it could look like. You are looking at global concerns, so you want to look at your thesis, your organization, your use of Evidence, as well as other major components of your essay. Editing on the other hand is just about fixing grammar, spelling or formatting mistakes. • • My second tip is to have others read through your work and discuss with them what you can do to improve. Get commentary from classmates, a tutor, or your instructor, who are all familiar with the assignment and writing process. • • Tip 3 the next tip is to examine your thesis statement or claim. Does your thesis answer the prompt or address the assignments requirements? can your argument be proven with evidence? Finally, does your thesis respond to an ongoing conversation that people are having about the topic? • • One of the most important steps you can do when revising is to check your exigence, which is tip4. Exigence is simply explaining the importance of your topic to your intended audience. Basically, who would care about what you have to say and why would they care whether you're assigned to write about a character in a novel? A historical event? or a science experiment. Exigence is crucial because it can turn your bored reader into an, engaged one. • • Tip 5 is check your topic sentences. They are the first sentence of each body paragraph and They have two functions. First, they need to repeat your main argument. Second, they need to express the main idea of your paragraph. Avoid inserting evidence in the topic sentence and instead place it after the topic sentence. • • 6 make sure you have adequate evidence that supports your thesis. Your evidence depends on the type of essay you're writing. Evidence can be comprised of quotes, paraphrases, visuals, or personal experience. If you're using research, be sure to provide citations. • • 7A go over the analysis of your evidence. to analyze means to break something down,so When we analyze evidence, we explain what it means. We evaluate it. Is it good, bad, what does it prove? Analysis requires critical thinking and an expression of your opinion. This is where you show your response and enter the conversation with those you cite. • • 8Finally, rethink your organization. What are your strongest pieces of evidence? How can you build up your evidence so you end on a strong note? And lastly Are the pieces of evidence you have in the right paragraphs? • • #reviseessays #Howtoreviseanessay #revision • 00:00 Start • 00:19 Editing is not revising • 00:48 conference with others • 01:02 Examine your argument • 01:24 Check your exigence • 02:01 Check your topic sentences • 02:24 Include Evidence • 02:45 Analyze Evidence • 03:08 Rethink your organization
