Using Windows with Xming to connect to an Ubuntu Linux system, edit and compile a C program using the gedit editor on Ubuntu. Here we copy some C code (for speed, instead of typing from scratch). • Using TeraTerm as the SSH client. In TeraTerm, you must enable X11 forwarding and save the setup before connecting. Here we cancel the initial connection, set the forwarding (Setup / SSH Forwarding...) and save, then open a new connection. You only need to do this setup once until you remove TeraTerm . • • Chapters: • 0:00 Intro slide • 0:02 Start SSH programs • 0:15 set up TeraTerm connection for X11 • 0:40 Log in to Ubuntu • 0:49 run programs from command-line • 0:53 open editor • 1:01 copy some C code into editor • 1:12 Save as hello-n.c • 1:30 Build with make hello-n • 1:36 Run, without and with argument • 1:53 Minor edit • 2:07 Alternative build: gcc hello-n.c -o hello-n • 2:13 Run new version
