In 1975, Charles Scudder and Joseph Odom left behind their lives in Chicago to pursue a dream of seclusion in the remote wilderness of Georgia near the Chattahoochee National Forest. They built their home by hand, and they named it Corpsewood, a decision that would lead to a haunting case of true crime. • ⬇️SUPPORT PANDOX⬇️ • 💜PATREON – / pandox_yt • 🐦TWITTER – / pandoxyt • 📌REDDIT – / pandox • The men discovering a decaying horse carcass upon arrival. The ominous welcome did not sway their plans. Over several years, they constructed a two-story brick house without electricity or running water, completely off the grid. They lived simply, relying on a well and wood stove, seeking isolation from a world they no longer believed in. • Charles Scudder, a former professor of pharmacology, and Joseph Odom, a cook, shared a life that blended intellectual curiosity with a fascination for the occult. Scudder’s growing interest in Satanism shaped the eerie design of Corpsewood Manor, which featured pentagrams, dark symbols, and unsettling artwork. It had statues of Baphomet and Mephistopheles. It was even rumored that Charles Scudder and Anton LaVey corresponded via letter, although these letters have not been confirmed. • They built a second building, the Chicken House, and at the top, they had a room for entertaining guests. It was called the Pleasure Room. The room was painted pink and filled with mattresses. Shockingly, it was said to possess a guest book, filled with the names, interests, and images of previous guests. It was rumored that high-ranking officials from Trion, Georgia were among the names entered in the guestbook. While police initially recovered the book during their investigation, it disappeared shortly after. • During the construction of their home, Joseph Odom suffered severe brain damage during a car accident. While he convalesced, Odom shared a dream with Scudder, which he painted into a self-portrait. The painting had five gunshot wounds and a mouth gag, an eerily prophetic image of what was to come. • On December 12, 1982, their reclusive life met a tragic end when they were brutally murdered by Kenneth Avery Brock and Tony West, two local men lured by the rumors of hidden wealth at Corpsewood. Brock and West, driven by misguided beliefs of treasure and revenge, orchestrated a horrific crime, ending Scudder and Odom’s search for peace. The crimes shocked the small community and forever linked Corpsewood Manor with dark occult rumors. • The tragic fate of Corpsewood Manor serves as a chilling reminder that, even in the most remote places, darkness can find a way in. More than the crimes of two men, this is the story of how the quest for freedom and self-expression collided with fear, ignorance, and reprisal. • SOURCES: https://pastebin.com/7ubytxdN • SOUNDTRACK: • Corpsewood Soundtrack Playlist • 0:00 Corpsewood • 2:06 The Men Behind The Manor • 10:23 Sanctuary In The Shadows • 19:48 Tales From The Hills • 22:49 Barbarians At The Gate • 28:06 The Cost Of Defiance • 34:21 The Aftermath of Atrocity
