The Zealots were one of the four sects of Jews (in the first century) along with the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essences. They were a group of revolutionaries who opposed Roman rule and their occupation of Judea. Their group was named after their characteristic feature which was religious zeal, or a piety and passion for God's law and rule. They would not hesitate to engage in armed combat in their fight for freedom. • In this video, I provide a historical and biblical overview of the Zealots and then consider how an ordinary Zealot (not Simon the Zealot) would likely respond to the Jesus of history. • #Zealots #Judaism #Christianity
