The march has been taking place since 2018 to commemorate the 116 fallen soldiers and the 3,377 members of the Bundeswehr who died in service. The march is an initiative of the bereaved, former comrades and the reservists' association. The march lasts several days, during which comrades and relatives cover 116 kilometers (116 dead) plus 3,377 meters (3,377 people who died on duty) in memory of the deceased. This year the start was at the Lehnin military training area and led through the Forest of Remembrance at the Operations Command to the Reichstag and the Ministry of Defense (BMVg, Bendlerblock). The video accompanies the march from Yizhak Rabin Street to the Reichstag and the march past the Brandenburg Gate. Colonel d.R. Schreiber, the leader of the march formation, briefly explains the background of the march.
