Coolant should be changed every 2 years or 1000 hours of usage. This how-to-video shows how you can change your coolant and perform a hydrometer test to indicate whether or not the coolant is broken down chemically. • It is important that the engine is completely cooled before starting this maintenance. In order to capture the used fluid, secure a coolant receptacle large enough to capture all of the coolant in the system. Open the access door on the street side of the unit. The coolant drain will appear as a threaded cap originating from the oil fence. When you have replaced the receptacle underneath this drain, reach inside the cabinet underneath the radiator and next to the battery opening the petcock valve. • To assist in the draining of coolant, it may be necessary to remove the radiator cap. Check first that the cap is not hot. When all of the coolant has been drained, reattach the threaded cap and close the petcock valve. Then refill the coolant using a funnel in the top of the radiator. When coolant can be seen at the top of the radiator fins, the radiator is full and the cap can be reinstalled. While refilling the coolant, be sure to top off the coolant overflow reservoir found directly above the petcock valve. • During regular inspections, a hydrometer test can be done to the coolant to assure that it is not broken down chemically. Follow these simple steps: • 1. Stick hydrometer tube inside the radiator and squeeze bulb to draw in the coolant • 2. Read the scale to check if the coolant is in acceptable range for operation • 3. If ok, replace the radiator cap • 4. If not, replace the coolant • Head to our website to learn more or find us on social media: • Allmand: https://www.allmand.com/ • Facebook: / allmandbrothersinc • LinkedIn: / 1993943 • SUBSCRIBE to Allmand’s Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/AllmandB...
