From beginners up to pros, all soccer players need to work on dribbling. A good way to work on this fundamental skill is by using the Dribbling Box Drill. • The Dribbling Box Drill is set up by creating a box out of four cones. The goal of the drill is to dribble inside the box. Keep the ball close to your feet. As you approach the edge of the square, you will turn and dribble the ball in a different direction. You can move with the ball any way you like as long as you keep it inside the square. • Beginners may want to start with a larger square to allow players to get used to dribbling. But as you progress, make the square smaller and throw in some advance moves to turn the ball. • You can do this drill with multiple players at once in a larger square. Use smaller, choppy kicks to maintain control and not knock you or your teammate’s ball outside of the square. • Want even more of a challenge? Throw a defender into the Dribbling Box Drill. The defender will try and knock the balls away from the dribbling players. • This is a drill you can do when you are working out by yourself or as a group warm-up. Just set up the square and get dribbling. • Improve your first-touch ability with U.S. National Soccer Team defender Becky Sauerbrunn: • http://protips.dickssportinggoods.com... • Want to improve your 1v1 ball possession ability?
